| The B-12 deficiency is probably an artifact of a congenital error in metabolism. The same metabolic processes that produce the myelin sheath may produce, or prevent, the formation of other proteins. Most diseases like MS have several causes. One vitamin can't account for everything seen with MS. |

| Hi guys, I take vitamin B12 to help increase energy levels. I must have low levels of B12 because adding extra Vitamin B-12 makes me feel much better. Can someone describe the effects of taking vitamin B12 for patients suffering from MS? Methyl B-12 is great because it absorbs better. |

B-12 deficiency is seen in some cases of MS, but it can't be the sole cause of MS, since there are factors that combine to "create" MS. There are other proteins that have to be present for the nervous system, and the myelin sheaths, to form properly and maintain their integrity. Dosing with B-12 doesn't seem like it would be enough to treat MS. Last edited by DianaR; 06-01-2008 at 02:54 PM. |

| If I was suffering from MS, I'd try anything I could to relieve the problems associated with MS. Vitamin B12 seems like such a healthy, safe treatment for MS, I don't know why anyone wouldn't try it. I'm sure they have to use other MS medications to treat the disease, but Vitamin B12 looks promising! It has been all over the news, and everywhere online! If so, he is a prime example of what the disease can reduce an otherwise healthy person to! |

| I believe you're right. Steven Hawkings, the scientist is suffering from MS. It's amazing what someone suffering from MS or other serious diseases can accomplish! Steven Hawkings is amazing!
