This isn't a recipe but in case you didn't know I wanted to post some foods that have other health benefits that may be useful to you-

Almonds
- 1 Servings about 24 almonds will help lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol

Apples
- Most of us know this one - 1 medium apple contains a good amount of antioxidants and fiber - 2 a day does your body good :-)

Carrots - Contain beta-carotene which is an antioxidant that helps protect your arteries

Milk - 1% 8 oz helps reduce blood pressure - helps keep arteries strong - helps you to lose weight - and can help prevent heart disease

I know there are a lot more but these are the foods I know off the top of my head.

Has everybody heard about the antioxidant effects of green and white tea?

Also, I've heard that tea is more conducive to losing weight than coffee.

Something I like is making Spaghetti but instead of using Spaghetti noodles, I like to use Spaghetti squash. Cook the squash, cut it in half and scrape it out and leave the noodles (squash) in the bowl (squash shell). It looks really neat, and tastes great too!

You have to remember that even though it's not wheat noodles, squash does still have high carbohydrates.

I use a lot of meat, and like to use ground turkey instead of sausage or beef. It's a little leaner, and is high in protein.

Default Green Tea as an antioxidant / green tea weight loss

I think that both coffee and tea are good for weight loss because of their thermogenic effect due to caffeine and Tannic acid.
Tea is typically better than coffee, not only because of the antioxidant effects, but also because people are more prone to add cream, sugar etc. to coffee, which raises the calories and reduces thermogenic effects.

If you're drinking coffee for weight loss, drink it black or with splenda or other sugar free sweetener.

Simplyme- Wow, what a great list.Thank you for posting. We eat alot of these already.

Hummus- any hummus recipe is healthy and good for you. It's very basic and been around for ages.

Basically a mix of chick peas *garbonzo beans*, olive oil, and garlic mized with seasonings and turned into a paste like substaince. You can really season it with whatever you want (If you want a mexican flare you can add in some cumin and other mexican seasonings that you like)
They also have it predone at the grocery stores.

I have never tried that...It is good though? I may have to give it a whirl. I have made a new goal to try something new at least once a month~ I am a complete creature of habit and have trouble breaking from routine especially with foods :-)

I've personally never made it but have been planning to now that I have a food processor.I eat everything seperatly so together I don't think it will be bad.I've seen it served alot which crackers, pitas or on in sandwhiches.

Another thing I do often when making white sauces instead of using all cream or milk I sometimes thin it more with chicken stock.I use beef stock when making speghetti sauce as well to thin it up and make it a little more healthy.
