Any thoughts on use of steroids in weightlifting contests? I'm against it. Let nature take its course

I agree...there is a huge difference between using legal products and crossing the line into illegal stuff.

You can get similar results with some of the stuff on the market now, but it doesn't have the same risks as the illegal stuff, plus legal anabolic supplements are not illegal like the illegal steroids are.

I think it depends on the rules of the contest and the goals of the person.

Just as contestants for the Miss America contest have their teeth fixed, liposuction, nose jobs, and everything else they do to make themselves more likely to win, there are bound to be those contests where steroid use doesn't matter to the judges, participants, or audience.

Each person should be allowed to make the decision for themselves, IMHO.

all this talk about legal or illegal...To heck with the law..........that's not what concerns me. I'm much more concerned about my health than some overworked cop breathing down my neck. So what are the side effects long term of these so called legal steroids.

There have been no laws removing your choice to shun the use of steroids for yourself, but there are other people in the world with different goals. They should be allowed to pursue them, as they see fit.

Well I won't go to far into the steroid debate I know plenty of people who take them and that is their choice. However, when you are entering a contest that is steroid free and you still use then to me it is cheating many say it's not the roids lifting the weight but I also know first hand without them you wouldn't be either not without a lot more work.

I would think it would be far more satisfying to get where you want to be with legal supplements and hard work. That way everyone is playing the same game and being given the same opportunity to show what they got.

I'm not so sure its that black and white. Should a parent who is a bodybuilder be allowed to use this stuff when It could harm them where they cannot support their family?

i don't think so. There are certain responsibilities that are more important than freedom.

I am sure there are many people who feel the same way that you do. The freedom to make that choice, along with others, is an extremely important facet of being fully human.
