If so how often and what is your reps/sets? I know deadlifting is a great mass builder but I am curious with all the potential for injury do you do it regularly and do you prefer low rep sets? Or do you take the risk and do higher rep sets?

When I do deadlifts, they're always pretty heavy, because you don't really build much mass with light weight. http://www.befit4free.net/videos/30-...exercises.html (Back Training Video. Bodybuilding Back Exercises) In this back training video, Chris Horning is doing sets of deadlifts with 495 pounds! You just have to use good form.

Back in the day when I was weightlifting, I tried and tried to gain mass but never did. What I did do was gain a ton of endurance and muscle tone. Just about ever muscle in my arms and legs was toned and outlined, but the mass never did come. My trainer at the time said he had never seen anyone with the endurance to do the workouts I did, and said most likely the reason I did not gain the mass was due to genetics. He said I was doing everything right at the time to gain mass, my body just would not cooperate. lol At one time I was working out about 8 hours a day. I would do exercises like every hour at work. 100 jumping jacks, 100 sit ups, 100 push ups and then jog in place for about 5-10 minutes. Had a job with little supervision or responsibility so i could get away with that. lol Then after work I'd start my weightlifting routine and work on that for about 4 hours. alternating the lifting with push ups, sit ups and jumping jacks again. I was very well toned and had the endurance of 3 bulls but never did gain the mass. even now 15 years later some of those muscles are still corded and toned. lol

No, I think you are right I definitely could tell the difference after I started deadlifting with the waistline getting a bit thicker (not fat just thick...lol) but overall I really love the results I got deadlifting though. My brother is a UFC type fighter but he did Powerlifting long before that and he was a deadlifting fanatic. He has his deadlift videos on his MySpace profile lol.
