| What are the benefits of using a personal trainer? Does anyone know of any research comparing using a trainer vs. going it alone? |

| Trainers can be expensive...but if you have the money, I think a personal trainer is the way to go. Plus you have some extra motivation with the trainer pushing you during workouts

| If you have the money I do agree a personal trainer can help you get to your goals much quicker than going it alone. |

| The benefits of using a personal trainer are that you will get expert advice on what route to go to achieve success in the shortest amount of time possible. Personal trainers are expensive though so be prepared to put out a pretty penny to hire one. |

| The trainer is there to motivate you and get you through any obstacle you have. I believe that hiring one is worth the money if your serious about completing a goal. |

| I'd also make sure that they are Nationally Certified. A lot of gyms don't require any REAL certification to become a trainer.

| I don't need any motivation from other people to get me to work out, but I have had people give me advice on workouts I was doing. I wouldn't mind a personal trainer to be honest, but I don't have the money. |

I HAVE to share on this. Most gyms have a bunch of smoking and latte drinking "trainers" that have sat through a four hour seminar to get certified through whatever certification school is SPONSORED by that gym. After these...so called trainers, go on the floor they are there to SELL you sessions and products. In fact most are held to a certain quota every month. In the end you end up with a bunch of car salesmen instead of someone who is truly there for your success.ffice ffice" />Personally, to add to BeFit4Free, not only look for a National Certified trainer. Look towards independent trainers that are there for you. Go to a small independent gym not a large franchise, or a trainer that will come to you as most gyms are intimidating for the beginner. TIP: A real trainer is there in the beginning with you, only to educate you and provide you with the tools you need to make wellness a lifestyle and to motivate you through those plateaus. Just my two cents!! |

| I agree that many trainers are just glorified salesmen. I DO think a trainer can be an awesome benefit but it has to be a good one. Watch the trainers at your gym and if you're going to spend the money, wait until you see one who is obviously good. Or ask around and see who is getting results. I've worked with one amazing personal trainer. I would keep going to him if I could afford it, but the sessions I did purchase were so well worth it. Good form is critical to weight lifting success. |
