On another post (Test of Self) someone mentioned training for a race so I thought I would start a new thread about it. This is how I've really moved my fitnes to the next level! I started out following the Couch to 5K running program when I couldn't run more than 20 seconds at a time (and I'm not kidding about that!). The program is found at www.coolrunning.com. I did my first 5K and realized it really was do-able. I run slow and I take plenty of walk breaks, but I just keep on going! From there I moved to doing my first 1/2 marathon last Fall. Crossing that finish line was one of the best days of my life! This year I joined a Triathlon team and did 2 Sprint Tris. I hope to do a longer course next year. It's been an amazing experience! If you have any questions about getting started, please let me know. Also if anyone races, I would love to talk about what you plan to do in the gym during the off-season. |

| I'd love to get back into Triathlons, but I've got too many sports in the way :/ I have relatives who tried coolrunning and really liked it. They would record how many miles they ran each day and used it to find local road races. |

| Yeah I've done a few Sprints that were really fun. At the moment I play lacrosse in the spring/summer, and I ski in the winter. I try and go to the gym any time I can when I'm not playing sports or working. |
