Default Test of Self

Does anyone here test their physical capability or progress? For example breaking record lifts in the gym or physical endurance like long distance running. Let us know how you test your body and mind.

You were asking about a test of self and I love to see how many miles I can ride on the stationary bike, or how long I can run on the elliptical. A few months ago, I was working out a lot and was able to do 30 miles per day on the stationary bike on level 13.

I like using Adam's V-Factor theory as a way to set small victories as a test of self, and ways to find personal victories.

The best thing to do in my opinion for a self test, is register yourself in a half marathon/marathon, or just a sprint triathlon, and see how well you do. After the first time you can begin to train and work harder, and see how much you improved over time.

Dang man,
That definitely sounds like an intense test of self. I can't run more than about 1/2 block unless a dog is chasing me...

I know there are many local ones around me. You can try searching google for local triathlons and see what comes up.

If there aren't any around you, you can always just time yourself swimming laps, biking, and running and see what happens over time.

Adam is extremely well organized (he keeps records of every workout he does), but I think he's probably really competitive. I don't think it would be worth it for him unless he had someone to compete against... Adam could enter the Olympics and finish second, and I'm pretty sure he'd be REALLY ticked off if he didn't win.

Yeah, some people really do need competition to push themselves more. I'm this way in many sports that I play.

I actually don't keep records of how much I do each time I go to the gym, but I do keep track of how many miles I run each time, and how many miles I bike each day.

I have friends who do Iron Mans and they really try their hardest to beat their old time. These guys are crazy, and train so much!

I don't think I'd ever have enough motivation to do something like an Ironman.
