| Ever since birth, both my sons suffered severe eczema. I do not mean dry skin; I mean deep scaring tissue, an incredible itch so incredible that no matter what I did they still find ways to scratch. When they were babies, the doctors recommended various topical creams that were extremely expensive, along with over the counter creams, oatmeal baths and of course nightly wet wraps. All of which never reduced the painful itch that taunted them constantly. With their little baby nails they would scratch skin right off their body. Even as the areas were drenched in blood from scratching, it still itched to the point where they would scratch the open wounds digging deeper. Blood everywhere. As a concerned mother I would notify the doctors and their answer was to administer Benadryl every six hours along with anti-inflammatory drugs. Of course this did not work. I sewed socks on wrists of their sleeves in hopes to elevate the digging from their nails. I would wake them at night learning that they rubbed so hard the fibers from the socks became just as harmful as their nails. The socks would be drenched in blood and puss. I continued along the doctor’s treatment and advice. During this time there were new topical creams that would hit the pharmacy, of course very expensive and with high recommendations from doctors. I would try them. And nothing. Eventually my oldest grew out of it, he now just has dry skin, but lots of scars on his body (of which has become a social issue for him. He hates wearing shorts because of other kids and their remarks). My youngest however, still suffers, to the point of infection. His scabbing and scarring was thick and deep. They feel like hard, large rocks in his body. I decided the doctors are IDIOTS and I will do what my Daddy always did for me when I was a little girl risking scarring. Pure vitamin E. I massage it in the areas every night after a nice long soaking bath. I saw noticeable results within two week. Now when you touch the areas, the hardness is gone and he is smooth feeling. Some of the discolorations in his beautiful caramel skin is going away and the healing is finally occurring. It seems that all these years the doctors only treated them, they never did anything that would heal them. Money spent on six different topical creams that were prescribed by dermatologist, pediatricians and family doctors. Daily use of Benadryl and prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs like steroids. Not one doctor all these years (10 years) said anything about vitamin E and it turned out to be the one thing that worked. A natural remedy that can be found over the counter, and cost less than the above listed drugs. I spent over $1200 per year, not including doctor visits just to treat them. I will be honest; I am a little pissed off. The social criticism from other kids that they have gone through. The anxiety caused when wearing shorts or if their pant leg lifts a bit from the ankle. Or, wearing long sleeves on a hot day afraid of negative remarks. My young boys should have never had to go through that type of brain damage. Doctors are not always right. EVERY avenue of medicine must come into account.

| Is there a cure for eczema? That is so sad to hear about little kids going through that and having to deal with not only the pain and itching of eczema but then having to deal with kids teasing them about the scarring from eczema. It's too bad that there's not a cure for eczema, but it sounds like vitamin E was a really good idea! Here's a link to some Vitamin E Oil so you don't have to open the vitamin E pills each time!
